In the beginning, there was no Ted.
(a.k.a. What is this and who am I?)
So I'm just sitting there sketching and minding my own business when this guy comes up to me and starts talking. "I'm in your Human Sexuality class and I always notice you drawing," says he. Oh balls, thinks I.
And so began The Adventures of Random!Guy and "Ted".
In all honesty, the comic started because I was bored. A lot of things I do start that way, actually. I'd been giving my friends the details of my run-ins with Random!Guy since the first time I'd met him and when he started calling me "Ted"...well, I guess I just couldn't help it. I had nothing better to do (except maybe working on some serious artwork or writing or homework or something of that nature), so I sat down and doodled out a little crap-comic based on the day's events. My friends were amused, as were people on DeviantART, and it occurred to me that the first comic didn't really make any sense standing alone. Thus a flashback sequence of two quick comics was created, showing how R!G and I had met and why he connected the name "Ted" with me in the first place.
From there, random doodlage was spawned. I'd known from the beginning that, though R!G was technically the title character, the bulk of the comic was going to focus on "Ted" - it makes sense, really, as "Ted" is me - but the random bits proved it. Most of them followed my, my friends, my day and my thoughts. Apparently no one minded.
A few scribbles in, I already had friends attached to it, so...why not keep it up? Almost daily doodles could be promised - actual comics provided whenever I had something to write one about - and it would give me something to do. So here we are with this lovely, little, mind-numbing brain-baby!
Scared yet?
Heh.
